Authentic Vacations Adventures – Your Health and Safety First
At Authentic Vacations Adventures, we care deeply about your well-being. To ensure your safety and comfort throughout your journey, we require all clients to inform us in advance of any pre-existing medical conditions, allergies, or physical limitations that may affect participation in tours, safaris, or trekking activities.
1. Disclosure of Medical Conditions
-
All travelers must disclose any medical condition that could impact their ability to safely participate in our tours. This includes (but is not limited to):
-
Heart conditions
-
Respiratory issues (e.g., asthma, COPD)
-
Diabetes or other chronic illnesses
-
Recent surgeries or injuries
-
Pregnancy
-
Allergies (e.g., food, insect bites, medication)
-
Physical disabilities or mobility restrictions
-
Failure to disclose such information may lead to cancellation of participation without refund if the condition poses a risk to you or others during the trip.
2. Trekking and High-Altitude Adventures
If you are participating in physically demanding activities, such as Mount Kilimanjaro or Mount Meru climbs, you must:
-
Be in good physical health
-
Consult your doctor before booking
-
Obtain a medical clearance if over 60 or with known health risks
-
Have travel insurance that covers high-altitude trekking
Altitude sickness is a serious risk. We encourage all climbers to understand the symptoms, follow acclimatization protocols, and stay hydrated.
3. Medications and Equipment
-
Bring an adequate supply of any personal medications for the entire duration of your trip.
-
We recommend packing essential items such as:
-
Prescription medicine
-
Antimalarial drugs
-
Pain relievers
-
Allergy medications (e.g., antihistamines, EpiPen)
-
Personal medical equipment (inhalers, glucose monitors, etc.)
-
Please inform our team of any medication that requires refrigeration or special handling.
4. Special Dietary Requirements
If you have any dietary restrictions (e.g., vegetarian, gluten-free, diabetic-friendly meals), inform us at the time of booking. We do our best to accommodate requests, especially during safaris and climbs, but remote conditions may limit options.
5. Medical Emergencies
In the event of a medical emergency:
-
We will arrange for first aid, evacuation, and transport to the nearest medical facility, as needed.
-
All costs related to medical care, evacuation, or early repatriation are the responsibility of the client unless covered by insurance.
We strongly advise all clients to have valid travel insurance with emergency evacuation coverage.
Your Responsibility – Our Commitment
By booking with Authentic Vacations Adventures, you acknowledge your responsibility to be fit for travel and to communicate medical information honestly. We are committed to supporting your health and safety at every step of your adventure.
